Tools Needed

Cane, Spade, Fork, Tree Tie and a Rubber Spacer Block (Usually provided with a Tree Tie).

Materials Needed

Stick of Wood, Granular Fertiliser, Compost and Water

Digging the Planting Hole

Using a cane, mark the centre of the planting hole. Gouge a circle one metre in diameter using a 50cm length of strong to determine your radius. Dig the area of circle to a depth of approximately 5cm

Preparing the Planting Hole

Use a fork to break up the soil inside the hole making it easier for the roots to work their way in. Ensure you have dug deep enough for the tree root to fit comfortably

Planting the Tree

Plant the tree into the hole, also planting a stick of wood next to the tree to offer support as your tree grows, this can then be removed when the tree has developed

Assisting the Trees Development

Add a small amount of granular fertiliser to the hole evenly, mix the soil you have previously removed from the hole with compost, then spread the mixture around the root ball ensuring there are no air pockets, tread the soil firmly until the hole is filled as it was before you began this process

Supporting the Tree

Attach the tree to the stick of wood you also planted by using a tree tie, place a rubber spacer block between the stick and the tree avoiding then rubbing. Your tree will now begin developing. Ensure you water your tree frequently, especially in warmer weather
