Inspect the fence for rust, if rust is present, equip your safety gear. Remove the rust using a steel brush, or wire wool. This will be time consuming and require considerable physical effort but like with any painting task it\'s all in the preparation. You will not be able to remove 100% of the rust; however you want to be rid of as much as possible so that your new paint will bond well

Washing the Fence

Fill a bucket with hot water and soap, Use a rag to wash the fence down, once the fence has been covered in soap, wash it off with a hose, then dry the fence with a fresh rag and allow it to dry overnight befor applying any paint

Painting the Fence

The first coat will consist of a metal primer paint, this gives the top coat something to adhere to. Once coated, allow the fence to dry overnight. Once dry, you can complete the fence with a coat of metal paint using a fresh brush. Then apply another layer of paint once the first layer has dried, then go over any rough spots with a fine touch up brush
