Tools Required

Sandpaper, Masking Tape, Tack Cloth, Paint Brushes and a Scraper.

Materials Required

Sugar Soap, Fitter, Primer Paint, Paint and White Spirit.

Preparation and Filling

Start by moving surrounding objects such as curtain rails and blinds. Once you have moved everything, you need to wash the paintwork with sugar soap. Sand the surface before using your filler to fill any holes; wait for the filler to set before continuing.

Sanding

Sand the surface until it’s as smooth as possible, if it is not smooth or proportional it will show after being painted. Use your tack cloth to rid of any debris and dust.

Covering the Edges

Use the masking tape to cover the edges of glass pane. Ensure no glass is showing at the edge and that none of the woodwork is covered.

Painting

If you are painting a new window or painting over a window with old paintwork, it’s recommended to paint a coat of primer over the surface, after add a top coat of your chosen colour If not just use two coats.

Finishing Touches

It is important that you always paint to the direction of the grain, using light strokes. Using too much paint on windows will cause sticking. You should leave the window open until the paint is dry.
