Tools and Materials Needed

Basin, Pedestal, Sink Waste Trap, Waste Kit, Tap Set, Basin Fixing Kit, Gland/Water Pump Pliers, Spanner, Box Spanner, Spirit Level, Tape Measure, Drill/Drill Driver, Large Screwdriver, Masonry Drill Bit, Tile Drill Bit, Pencil.

Making up the Taps

Take your taps and screw the locking thread into the underside of the tap base. Use your gland pliers to tighten the locking thread. Next, screw the supply pipes into the underside of the tap, using your spanner to tighten them. Place the sealing washer over the supply pipes and onto the base of the taps.

Fitting the Taps to the Basin

Place the taps (supply pipe first) into the tap hole in the basin. From underneath the basin, place the sealing washer over the supply pipes and up against the underside of the basin. Place the locking plate over the supply pipes , ensuring that the plate fits over the locking thread. Screw the locking nut onto the locking thread and do it up hand tight. Making sure that the taps are straight, use your box spanner to fully tighten the locking nut.

Installing the Waste

Take the waste kit and dis-assemble it , leaving the sealing ring on. Place the waste into the basin so that the thread end is protruding out of the underside of the basin. Place the sealing washer over the thread, making sure that the flanged side goes on first. Place the nylon washer on next , followed by the locking nut. Use your gland pliers to fully tighten the locking nut.

Installing the Basin

Place the pedestal roughly in position and sit the basin on top. With the basin in place, adjust the pedestal so that the sink is flat against the wall and the pedestal sits snugly inside the lip on the underside of the basin. Lay your spirit level across the sink and check that it is level. Use your pencil to mark the wall through the fixing holes on the back of the sink. Mark the position of the pedestal onto the floor with your pencil. Lift the basin back off of the pedestal and place to one side. Put a tile bit into your drill and drill some pilot holes into the tiles where you marked them earlier. Next, using a masonry bit, enlarge the holes in the wall enough to fit the wall plugs in. Make sure that your drill is NOT on hammer mode as this can crack and chip the tiles. Place the wall plugs into the holes and tap them in with your hammer until they are flush with the wall. Screw the fixing bolts into the wall plugs as far as the thread will allow. Place the basin back onto the pedestal, ensuring that the fixing bolts locate through the fixing holes on the back of the basin. Check that the pedestal is still in the right place using the line you marked on the floor earlier. Thread the plastic locking nuts onto the fixing bolts and screw them up hand tight. Double check that the basin is level using your spirit level and then tighten the nuts up fully using your gland pliers.
