Mitre Saw, Clamps, Router, Hammer, Paint Brush and Sand Paper.
Materials Required
1" Poplar Wood, Wood Glue, Paint, Mounting Screws and Nails.
Making the Perimeter
Mark the wood using a tape measure, use a mitre saw to cut the rectangular perimeter pieces with both of them 24 inches side and 36 inches long.
Making the Centre Divider
Clamp down top and bottom pieces with a horizontal notch directly in the centre to make room for the centre divider. You may want to buy extra pieces of wood in case you make a mistake with the router.
Putting the Pieces Together
Glue all the joints together making the perimeter, nail the joints together to ensure it will stay measure and cut the centre divider which is the length of the sides needed, continue to hammer the side pieces into the centre divider.
Creating the Two Inserts
Create 2 “X” shaped inserts which will hold the bottles in place, measure the diagonal of the first rectangle and then cut 2 pieces to the same length to, bevel the ends into a 45 degree angle to fit them properly into place.
The Last Cross Pieces
Cut four shorter cross pieces with one end bevelled at a 45 degree angle; slide the bevelled end against the frame and then the other end into the notch on the long crossed piece
Painting (Optional)
Before you start this step make sure that the glue has dried, you can then start painting the wine rack anyway you like.
