Tools and Materials Needed

Toilet Brush, Rubber Gloves, Household Sponge, Cream Cleaner, Bathroom Cleaning Spray, Paper Towels or Cloth.

Preparation

Start by removing anything that you keep around the toilet. Using a sponge and hot water, wipe around the cistern, lid, seat and base of the toilet.

Cleaning the Bowl

Whilst wearing gloves, use a generous amount of cream cleaner around the inside of the toilet and the rim. Scrub thoroughly with a toilet brush, paying particular attention to water marks and limescale stains at the back of the bowl. Once you have finished, flush the toilet to rinse the bowl and brush.

Cleaning the Toilet

Using a specialist bathroom cleaner, spray the lid, seat, base and cistern until very wet. Use either a cloth or paper towels to work the spray around the toilet. Pay particular attention to all of the nooks and crevices and don’t forget the base.

Cleaning the Handle

Using the bathroom spray and a disposable paper towel, clean the toilet handle thoroughly. This is the focal point for spreading germs.

Cleaning the Surrounding Areas

To clean the tiles and floor around the toilet, spray with the bathroom cleaner and clean off with paper towels. If you use a cloth, make sure that you either dispose of it or wash it properly. Give all the items that are kept around the toilet a rinse with warm water. Wipe over with paper towels to remove any dust, drips and spills.
