Tools and Materials Needed

Rubber Gloves, Heavy Duty Oven Cleaner, Metal Scourer, Bowl of Hot Water and a Soft Cloth.

Preparation

Choose your preferred oven cleaner and make sure that you read the manufacturer’s instructions before you begin. You are advised to make the room as ventilated as possible. Spray an even layer of your chosen cleaner all over the door, base, walls and shelf brackets. It is important to only leave the product on for the specified amount of time.

Cleaning

Once the time has elapsed, using the metal scourer and the bowl of hot water, scrub the inside of the oven. Use the bowl of water to regularly rinse the scourer. Work your way around all areas paying particular attention to the base area.

Finishing

Using a soft dry cloth, wipe over all areas of the oven to remove the remainder of the cleaning product. Take time to ensure that all traces of the cleaning product are removed. Buff over with kitchen towel to bring to a shine. When complete, it is advisable to close the oven door and turn it on to a very high temperature for a few minutes. This will remove any chemical smells and residue before use. Turn the oven off and open the door slightly to release the odours.
