How to bleed a radiator
Pages: 1 All

Tools Needed

Radiator Key or a Slotted Screwdriver

Materials Needed

Bucket / Pot to catch the water, Sponge / Cloth to clean up.

Step 1: Bleeding the radiator

Locate the bleed valve on your radiator. Most radiators have a bleed valve that can be adjusted with either a radiator key or a slotted screwdriver. Make sure the heating is switched off as this can introduce more air into the system. Put the radiator key into the bleed valve and undo it slightly until you can hear air coming out. Keep your bucket or cloth underneath and as soon as water starts to come out – tighten the bleed valve back up. Clean up any water that may have been spilt. Repeat this for all of the radiators in your house. You may need to top up your boiler afterwards.
