Tools Needed

Toilet seat with fittings.

Materials Needed

Toilet seat with fittings.

Step 1: Fitting the Seat

Remove the old / damaged seat from the toilet pan. When you buy a new toilet seat you should get all of the necessary fittings included. Take the two brackets that secure the seat to the pan and insert them into the holes on the back of the seat. Place a rubber washer over each one and insert the threaded ends of the brackets into the holes on the toilet pan. Underneath the pan where the threaded end of the bracket is now protruding, place a washer over the brackets. Now place the nuts provided onto the threaded bracket and start to tighten by hand. Do this on both sides and when the nuts start to get tight, adjust the seat into its final position. Now you are ready to tighten the nuts fully. Use the tightening tool provided with the seat fittings and fully tighten the nuts up.
