Tools needed

Stanley Knife, Pad Saw, Drill Driver, Plasterers Rasp, Bucket, Finishing Trowel or Large Filling Knife, Bucket Trowel, Level, Pencil.

Materials needed

2” x 1” Batten, Some Plasterboard, Screws, Easi-fill or Something Similar, Scrim.

Step 1 : Mark A Box Out

Draw a level box around the hole you have. Come about 10mm away from the damaged edges. Now with your pad saw cut out your square.

Step 2 : Score Out

To ensure you will get no cracks, it's best to draw another square, say 2mm bigger around the one you have cut out. Now carefully score the lines with a sharp knife and scrape back the plaster. This will allow for the scrim to be placed later.

Step 3 : Batten

Now measure the height of your cut out and over cut the 2” x 1” batten by approximately 50mm and fix either side, ensuring the batten is both half on the plasterboard and half visible. Once these are both fixed, measure for the top and bottom and fix.

Step 4 : Cut Plasterboard

Now measure and cut your plasterboard accordingly to the size of your square and fix.

Step 5 : Scrim

Scrim the joints with your scrim tape. Try not to overlap your scrim tape.

Step 6 : Mix Filler

Now mix up you filler and apply. Make sure you work it into your joints and don’t over fill. Allow to dry.

Step 7 : Sand Down and Aplly More Filler

Once dry, give a little rub with some fine sandpaper and fill again. This time coming proud about 2-3mm. Allow to dry fully.

Step 8 : Sand Down

Once completely dry, get some fine sand paper and in a circular motion, rub down the filler until its smooth and you are satisfied.
