Tools and Materials Needed

Silicone Gun, Sanitary Silicone, Low Tack Tape, White Spirit, Kitchen Roll, Stanley Knife.

Preparation

Cut the end off of the tube opening using your Stanley knife. Place the tube into the silicone gun and then screw the nozzle onto the tube. Cut the nozzle at a 45⁰ angle using your Stanley knife. Run some low tack tape along the tiles, about 3mm from the edge of the bath. Do this all of the way round the area to be sealed. Repeat this along the bath, ensuring that the gap is even all the way around.

Sealing the Bath

Before you start, it is advisable to fill the bath with water. This will prevent the silicone from being stretched when there is weight in the bath. Starting in the corner, squeeze some silicone along the gap in the tape, ensuring that you have covered all of the opening. Dip your finger into the white spirit and then, starting in the corner again, drag the silicone along the tape, removing any excess that come off onto your kitchen roll. Once you are sure that there no gaps in the silicone, remove the tape in a steady, even motion. Leave the silicone to cure (refer to the manufacturer’s instructions) before emptying the water out and using the bath.
