Tools Needed

Standard Paint Roller, Paint Tray, Small Paint Roller, Measuring Tape, Pencil, Spirit Level and Dust Sheet

Materials Needed

Low Tack Masking Tape, White Emulsion Paint and Coloured Emulsion Paint

The First Layer

Before you start to paint lay down a dust sheet over any sufaces that are within the painting area. If your wall or ceiling has a strong colour on it currently, you will need to go over the wall or ceiling in a white coat of emulsion paint. By doing this it will prevent the old colours showing through after you have completed painting. The technique you are going to use is a steady vertical motion gently going up and down the wall or ceiling, try not to use too much paint on each coat to prevent drips

The Main Colour

Once the white coat has dried, you can begin with your background colour, this will be one of your acrylic emulsion paints you have chosen

Marking Out the Wall

Apply the masking tape to the wall to define where you will make your stripes, play around with this until you are satisfied with the outcome

Painting the Stripes

Using the second colour and a small roller, begin to paint your stripes working from the top down. Once completed, carefully peel off the masking tape to revel you newly painted stripes
