Tools Needed

Mixing Bucket, Standard Bucket x 2, Mixing Drill, Finishing Trowel, Plasterers Hawk, Bucket Trowel, 2” Brush, Large Brush, Spray Bottle, Level.

Materials Needed

Plaster, P.V.A Glue.

Step 1 : Preparation

First, work out how far in you need to blend in your plaster. Now with your level make a line to how far you need to go. Once done, P.V.A your wall and allow to dry. You should exceed your marked line with P.V.A by about 300mm.

Step 2 : 1st Coat

Now your glue is dry, you should mix up your plaster for your 1st coat. Once mixed, run a line of plaster up the line you marked with your level and then infill the rest, working off from your corners. Allow to pick up for 10-15 minutes.

Step 3 : Flatten Your Plaster In

Taking a large brush and some clean water, brush in where your plaster is to blend in and then flatten in the rest of your wall. Leave for 5-10 minutes.

Step 4 : 2nd Coat

Now it’s time for the 2nd coat. Once mixed, apply in the same fashion as the 1st coat. This time, over-sail the 1st line of plaster you put on by roughly 50mm, and when applying the rest of your coat just make sure it’s a lot more smoother and flatter. Now allow to pick up for 5-10 minutes.

Step 5 : 1st Trowel

First of all, take your large brush and brush in the area you want to blend. Now brush in your corners. Now take your trowel and spray bottle and trowel off the rest of the plaster, being firm and making sure any hollows are filled and any lines are gone. With any excess plaster left on your trowel, you may want to apply to your blending in line. Now leave to pick up for 5-10 minutes. Repeat this process for the 2nd and 3rd trowel and allow to dry for 2-3 hours.

Step 6 : Hard Trowel (polishing up)

Also known as a “cross trowel”. This time, spray some water on your trowel and go horizontally across the plastered area. Also, once completely dry, you may want to give the blended in area a little rub down with some fine sand paper.
