Tools and Materials Needed

Compression Fittings, Gland/Waterpump Pliers, Adjustable Spanner, Pipe Jointing Compound, Copper Pipe.

Fitting the Compression Fitting

Disassemble the compression fitting and place the nut and then the olive over the end of your first piece of pipe. Use your finger to smear a small amount of the jointing compound onto the end of the pipe. Always put the compound on the pipe and never inside the fitting itself as this can restrict the water flow through the pipe. Push the pipe into the compression fitting and screw the nut up hand tight. Repeat this for the adjoining end of the pipe. Use your gland/waterpump pliers to hold the compression fitting in place while you tighten the nuts up with your adjustable spanner.
