The most probably reason that your shower head is leaking is because the current rubber washer, even the slightest damage to these rubber washers can cause the shower head to leak. Another reason why you also would want to repair your shower head is because it can be very noisy dependant on where it is installed.
To prepare, it is extremely important to turn off the water supply, you don’t want any accidental leakages because of your DIY; remember to ensure this is 100% done.
Taping Around the Shower Head
The pipe wrench can most certainly damage the shower head leak; this is why we have masking tape, wrap the masking tape around the shower head to prevent any damage from the next step.
Removing the Shower Head
After you have securely taped the shower head, use your pipe wrench to gently bring the shower head loose, afterwards, use hands to unscrew the showerhead from there.
Checking Inside the Shower Head.
Look inside the shower head and see if the rubber washer has been damaged, lift the rubber washer out of the shower head, then replace the old rubber washer with the new one ( Make sure that the new rubber washer has the same dimensions).
Using the Sealer
Wrap the pipe sealer around the shower head pipe where the showerhead fits, this will ensure that you have a better seal.
Fit On the Showerhead
Fit on the showerhead, put the tape back around it to avoid any damage from the pipe wrench once again, first tighten with hands and then the pipe wrench ( do not over tighten or you may cause some damage).
Check the Showerhead
Once finished, turn on the water supply and run the water to see if the leakage has disappeared, if not then it may be coming from another source and you may have to get professional help.
