Tools Needed

Safety Goggles, Dust Mask, Gloves, Plaster filler, Hammer and chisel, a scraper, utility knife (situation dependant)

Protection

This is the most important step when it comes to removing tiles; ensure to protect yourself and your possessions as removing tiles can cause all sorts of damage, in most cases you will need to move your possessions to ensure no damage will come to them.

Tile Removal

To remove the tile first align your chisel to the edge of the tile and put it at an angle, afterwards tap your hammer into the edge of the tile causing the tile to either break or lose support and fall off. When it comes to gloves remember to wear professional heavy duty gloves because there is a chance you can get cut. If you’re near the ceiling then hammering the tiles can cause severe damage, the best method is using a utility knife and to slowly use it at the top of the tile as a result separating the adhesive from the ceiling, this allows us to obtain a lower chance in damage to the ceiling itself.

Removing the Adhesive

With this just use your scraper to scrape off all the old adhesive, don’t be too rough with this as it can damage the wall and you may have to replace it, especially if the wall you are removing the tiles from is a plasterboard wall.
