The basic error people make when using screws and raw plugs is that they use a drill bit that is too big for the plug or the wrong combination of tools and materials. When it comes to screwing in the screw, the plug will just turn inside the hole or be drawn back out of the hole.
The basic procedure is to start with the screw. Make sure that it’s the right length, right thickness and has the right thread and head for the particular job you are doing.
Next, choose your raw plug. Is it suitable for the screws you have chosen? On the packaging it should tell you what size screws are compatible with the plugs.
Finally, choose your drill bit. The packaging on the plugs should also tell you what size drill bit you should be using for those particular plugs. Make sure the drill bit is suitable for the material you’re drilling into. If it’s brick or block, then use a masonry bit.
When it comes to screwing in the screws, you will need a screwdriver. There are many different types of head for screws – slotted, crosshead, pozi etc., so make sure the screwdriver or driver bit is compatible with the screws you are using.
If you follow these simple guidelines, you should have no problems putting that shelf or TV up on the wall.

Screws – Plugs – Drill Bit – Screwdriver.
